Brakes

It should go without saying that a problem with the brakes on a car is not an issue to take lightly, and yet, like with many things, people will sometimes put off taking action on what seems to be a minor issue.

Any issue with your car’s brakes is one to treat as a serious concern, and if it turns out to be a minor issue – great, but the old adage “better safe than sorry” could not be more appropriate to any part of your vehicle than the brake system.

The good news is that you don’t need to be a trained mechanic to spot warning signs with your brakes, and if you have even the slightest concern then call Approved Autos, and we will get one of our team out to you at your nearest convenience.

While modern cars have a helpful brake light that will illuminate to indicate an issue, there are other telltale signs to look out for. If it feels like you need to push the brake pedal further in order to slow down, or if it takes longer to stop than previously, then this could be an indication of a variety of problems, from wearing on the brake pad or rotor, to a problem with the master cylinder.

There are several other areas within the brake system that could need repairing or replacing, and while you don’t need to worry about what is causing a problem – that’s our job – you do need to take action if you notice any common symptoms of a brake issue.

If you hear a grinding or screeching sound when applying the brakes, notice the car dragging to the side when braking, or see fluid underneath your car when it’s parked – give us a call! You might well get to the bottom of that hill faster without brakes, but ideally we want you to get there in one piece!
